I have helped HoM develop a new e-commerce store using Medusa.js, an open-source e-commerce framework. We moved away from Shopify to gain more control over the codebase and reduce long-term costs. The new stack combines Medusa.js for handling orders and inventory with Sanity CMS for content management, all built on Next.js for better performance. This headless approach lets the team make custom features without limitations while keeping the frontend separate for easier updates. We implemented the View Transitions API for smooth page navigation and focused on optimizing load times across product pages and checkout.
